The National Museums commissioned Skakel & Skakel to design its first touring exhibition ‘Making Weaves: The Basketmaker’s Art’ at a time when the revival of indigenous crafts in Scotland was at the forefront of the arts funding debate.

Aiming to raise the profile of basketmaking; engage new audiences, markets and practitioners, the exhibition incorporated the work of 14 exhibitors and was held in the Main Hall of the Royal Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh. More
