With the development in the late 1980s of the industrial area
around the Dewar Place substation and the subsequent rise
of Edinburgh’s financial and cultural district, ScottishPower
realised the need for some radical visual improvement to the
substation site and asked Skakel & Skakel to explore creative
solutions.
We transfomed the grey apparatus of the substation into industrial
art; not only designing the concept but also the landscaping,
lighting, and signage aspects of the project.
